Happy Mundane Home Tour

Hello my vintage vultures! You guys are in for a treat today. Welcome to Jonathan Lo of Happy Mundane's home tour! Jon is the absolute kween of color blocking and vintage vibes. I've met Jon almost ten years ago from blogging. He's a design extraordinaire. How amazing is his citrusy downstairs bedroom? It's giving me modern tiki vibes for sure. And don't even get me started with that bright woven wall hanging. Here, you have a cookie cutter home and with carpet (gasp!), but there is no shortage of bright ideas to make your home fun and unique. Jon has a way of creating vignettes that's so thoughtful, it looks like art! Anywahoos, I'll let him take it away from here!

Tell Us A Story

I live in happy suburban Irvine, CA, which is famously known for homogenous housing tracks and ultra planned communities. However, while my outside may blend in, I enjoy having the inside be an oasis of bright fun color and surprise. I firmly believe that it’s not about where you live, it’s how you live.

Fave place to shop for home goods in Orange County?

The antique malls in Old Town Orange are always my go-to, especially for accessories and artwork. There’s always something magical to be found there, and they conveniently have several shops all next to each other to browse.

You are kween of color blocking!

Color blocking is an easy way to define spaces in a room, not to mention also giving graphic impact. What’s great is you can just repaint right over it if you get bored with a color and not have to bother with having to redo the whole room.

Who are you listening to right now?

I’m currently loving the beats from Yaeji, Kah-Lo, and British singer Jones.

What's your decorating motto?

If you love it, then it’s perfect.
