Kim's Living Room and Kitchen Refresh

Sponsored by Tuesday Morning

Today, we’re visiting one of my dearest friends, Kim who lives in Los Angeles. She was an art consultant / producer who recently left her job to get into film production. She’s ready for change. Kim lives in a small one bedroom apartment and wanted some quick, easy, and affordable fixes for her kitchen and living room area. She has a bit of downtime right now so I stopped by to give her apartment a fresh update with some help from Tuesday Morning. They have unbeatable deals on home décor so they’re the perfect destination for a spring refresh!

Let’s start with the living room. Here are 5 easy ways to update your living space. Kim likes a lot of blue and calming colors so we used those colors to accent the space.

The sofa was squeezed into a weird spot before and the coffee table was blocking the flow from entering her bedroom. So we moved the sofa to the other side of the room and put a media unit in that tight corner to give Kim more storage. That alone made a huge difference. I think people often get stuck in one furniture placement. I love constantly moving things around in a space to find the best and most functional layout for my lifestyle.

The old rug was too big and the colors were too muted for this space. We swapped out the rug for a smaller Persian rug (5x7) from Tuesday Morning for $99. We layered in a couple of Shibori-style indigo pillows. Kim loves the Japanese aesthetic so they’re perfect. Also tossed in white nubby pillows for contrast and cosiness.

Kim’s space doesn’t allow another lounge chair so we got this blue pouf with fringe (also from Tuesday Morning). It’s great for additional seating or just resting your legs up. They only had one left at the store otherwise I would’ve bought one for myself! Kim told me that her cat, Sinclair loves sitting on it already!

And let’s not forget about plants. We put two in each corner to add some greenery up in here. The white pot with blue and teal geometric shapes fit perfectly in the space.

I also showed Kim how to change out ceiling light fixtures. It’s so easy!

Now, onto the kitchen. We painted the island an accent color and applied subway tile peel and stick over the old backsplash to give this a pretty easy transformation! Doesn’t it look ten times better?! And while we were at Tuesday Morning, we found this gorgeous wooden bowl with raw live edge. Kim loves the outdoors so this is a nod to nature. And there you have it! If you’re looking for affordable and stylish pieces to update your home then Tuesday Morning is the perfect place!
